Gareth Bacon is an English politician and a Member of Parliament for the Conservative Party in the Orpington Constituency. He was born on born 7 April 1972, in Hong Kong. He attended St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s School before studying Politics and Government at the University of Kent at Canterbury.
Bacon was a long-standing councillor on Bexley Council. He represented Sidcup West from 1998 to 2002. And then he represented Longlands ward, centered around the area of the same name, from 2002 to 2021.
Gareth was voted in as Bexley Council’s Deputy Leader in 2014. He resigned from his post when he was named to the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority in January 2015.
On 12 December 2019, Bacon was elected as the Member of Parliament for Orpington after standing in for Jo Johnson who did not want to seek reelection.
Despite a drop in his percentage of the vote, he was elected with the greatest Conservative share for this constituency since 1955. He took office with 30,882 votes and a margin of 22,378.

Gareth Bacon won 30,882 votes out of a possible 48,721. This represents a 63.4% majority in his constituency. There was a voter turnout of 65.7%.
