The main goal of hermeneutics, especially for Jews and Christians, is to discover the truths and values expressed in the bible. For example, hermeneutics is used to interpret the Bible in various ways, including literal, moral, allegorical, anagogical, and mystical interpretations.
Literal interpretation states that bible contents must be read considering the author’s intention.
Moral interpretation is about finding the ethical teachings in something.
Allegorical interpretation argues that other external factors are to consider rather than what is mentioned in the bible.
Anagogical or mystical interpretation of the bible forecasts events to come.
Hermeneutics is used as an interpretation tool in understanding sacred text. The modern usage of this term means that it is a “philosophical study of interpretation.” Hermeneutics is the process of figuring out the meaning of a text. Similarities between Phenomenology and Hermeneutics
